YWCA luncheon raises $45,000 for programs

To the editor:

On Wednesday, April 9, the YWCA Greater Newburyport had a sold-out 5th annual Engaging Communities Luncheon that focused on Promoting Dignity for All. Guest speaker Liz Walker captivated the crowd with her talk on grace — a word she uses to describe dignity and living to help others. The event netted over $45,000 for the programs and services of our organization, whose mission is to eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.

We would like to thank the lead sponsors of the event: Presenting The Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank Empowerment: Kim Williams and Trevor Miller, The Institution for Savings Charitable Foundation, and one anonymous donor; Mission: The Provident Foundation; Head Table: Bennett & Co; Benefactors: Eastern Bank Foundation, Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley, Elder Service Plan of the North Shore, Green Jean’s Design & Horticulture Services, Matter Communications, Michelle and John Morris, Newburyport Development; Patrons: Anna Jaques Hospital, Blatman Brobowski & Mead, Colden Seymour Ear Nose & Throat, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Klein Hornig, KonAroma Coffee, LD Russo, Neighborhood Health Plan, Shore Country Day School and Terrance Hart. For in-kind donations, we thank Ashley Plante of New Media Associates for design of event materials; Nature’s Garden for flowers, Paltec Solutions for printing the program, and Vinwood Caterers for dessert.

We also want to recognize our Honorary Chairperson, Sen. Kathleen O’Connor Ives, and our three Community Champions: Anne Proli Cataldo of Newbury, Diane Hawkins Clark and Kerry Mahoney of Newburyport for their efforts promoting dignity for all in our community.

Last but not least, we would like to thank our event committee for their time and talents: Event Co-Chairs, Charna Cummings and Carol LaRosa, Rachel Abdulla, Sue Ballard, Nicole Chabot, Melissa Corkum, Martha Delay, Nancy Frick, Gretchen Girard, Ilene Harnch-Grady, Diane Gronbeck, Lynne Hendricks, Danielle Holmes, Nancy Jones and Cathleen Williamson.
