Thanks for helping with benefit dinner

Newburyport Daily News

---- — To the editor:

On Saturday, April 26, a benefit dinner was held to raise money for the restoration of all veterans memorials in Amesbury. The first monument being restored is the historic Doughboy, originally dedicated on Nov. 11, 1929.

Thank you to our major sponsor, the Amesbury Police Department. Under the direction of Chief Ouellet, Lt. Worthen and officers Kooken, Noyes and Hanshaw and their family members, patrons were served a quality meal. Thank you to Nick and Cynthia Costello, who, with the New Generation, provided patriotic music and entertainment during the meal.

A special thanks to the sponsors who provided all the food and supplies, which ensured a successful benefit dinner: Shaheen Brothers, Amesbury Sports Park, Vermette’s, Adell Faso, Dr. Maris Ditolla, Ruth Genova and Mary Therrien.

To all the volunteers who generously gave of their time and talents, we thank you very much. The Amesbury Veterans’ Memorials Restoration Committee hopes to see everyone at the rededication ceremony on May 18 at 2 p.m.
