PRC event raises $6,600 for city's playground

To the editor:

On behalf of the Park Renovation Committee, I would like to thank all who contributed to the PRC’s third annual fundraiser.

Betting was fast and furious at the Nite at the Races video horse racing event, held at the Ale House Nov. 5. Supporters sponsored races or individual horses, and also were able to bet on horses before they ran.

We thank the organizations and people who made it possible: the Provident Bank for sponsoring the event, the Ale House, Matt Sherrill for a fabulous job as announcer, Mayor Kezer and the city councilors in attendance, and our many community supporters, including TCS Communications, the Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank and Gretchen Marinopoulus.

With your support we raised over $6,600. These monies will purchase a large piece of play equipment for the playground: more fun for the children at Amesbury Town Park!
