To the editor:
What’s it all about? It’s not about what John Tierney’s brother-in-law did or what Tierney knew or didn’t know about what happened on a remote Caribbean island some years back. That is a red herring promoted by millions upon millions of out-of-state advertising dollars.
Is it about Tisei? No way. Tisei is a life-long, go-along-to-get-along politician. What has he ever done? I say nothing. What would Tisei do in Washington? He would disappear into the back benches of the Republican caucus, the caucus of the tea party, the new American Taliban.
Is it about Tierney? Yes, yes it is. Tierney had the guts to vote against the Iraq War in the first place, bucking his own party. Tierney had the guts to vote against the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act, which was our best protection against the investment bank fiasco of 2007-2008. Can you imagine where the country would be today if Tierney’s votes on just those two issues had prevailed? Tierney has worked his butt off for this district, he has helped this district on issues of education and jobs.
Finally, about those ads created with the Karl Rove millions: Not one cent has gone into making a case for why anyone would actually want to vote for Tisei. That says it all, doesn’t it? We cannot tolerate another Republican “Stepford Wife” in the House. Our votes cannot be bought by Karl Rove.
