Sewage problem, city's response is 'not acceptable'

Newburyport Daily News

---- — To the Editor:

I am writing yet another letter. This time it is about rare sewage flowing into my basement. Last year the pipes on my street got blocked and rare sewage flowed into my basement for over two hours before the Town of Amesbury was able to stop it.

They had the mess cleaned up my Servpro and I submitted a very minimal bill for some of the items destroyed. I was under the impression that the problem was corrected. Not the case. Just today raw sewage started flooding my basement again. When the city came to unblock the pipes my downstairs toilet bubbled up with raw sewage all over my kitchen floor. Once is an acceptable problem. Twice is an inexcusable neglect.

Well this time they will clean up my basement again with Servpro. But the problem is Servpro can not come for 5 hours. Not acceptable. Would you think maybe the city would put the replacement or repair of the pipes on Thompson Street on the top of the list. Quite honestly my patience are worn, especially since I pay $6,000 a year in taxes.
