LHD -- WTF (Where's the Finish?)

Why the Houdini act with a last-minute amendment after the taxpayers funded a three-year study that yielded divisive results … it was clearly a “no go.” The council should vote on the proposal that is before them. Instead, we are dragging this out.

With respect to the five structures on the Ridge (eight residences) … why do we need a new district and associated overhead to accommodate a select few? It has been mentioned several times by many of us that, for those who want to protect their homes, they simply need to spend a few hundred dollars and file a restriction on their deed prohibiting tear-down of their properties. One can’t help but suspect passing this narrow district is a setup for some type of trickery and expansion down the road.

Simply put, Newburyport officials need to rise above and do their jobs. Make the tough calls and be done with it. LHD … Let’s Hasten a Decision.
