Raising taxes the only answer in Amesbury

To the editor:

The Finance Committee in Amesbury appears to have a knee-jerk reaction to all things before them, as does the City Council (which I think are the same people) — raise taxes!

In absence of good management and prudent spending, they decide the public can fork over more money as they fork up their meals in Amesbury.

A meals tax in addition to the already high tax to live here.

How about we all decide to tighten our belts and not eat out anymore till the Finance Committee and the City Council decide to tighten the belt of the budget and the waste that is inherent in any governing budget. I cannot believe this is the only response to a difficult situation: go get more.
