Thanks for help at Salvation Army event

To the editor:

On behalf of all the employees and volunteers at The Newburyport Salvation Army, I want to thank everyone who participated in last Friday’s Family Care Fair and Open House. There were 19 different programs from around the area with outreach tables offering information that is important to families of all economic levels; many of them were offering free gifts as well. A number of local businesses, churches and individuals donated gifts that participants could win at a separate gift table, and a few local service clubs donated monetarily so that we could offer free lunch to all who attended. There was face painting, a pop corn machine, free child care and free haircuts; the haircut lady was very busy indeed.

I am so grateful to all the volunteers, social service agencies, businesses and everyone who helped with this event. It means a lot to us at Salvation Army to be able to experience first-hand all your dedication to community and all your willingness to show up whenever you are called upon. We feel very blessed to be in such a helpful and service-oriented community. Not only was Newburyport represented on Friday but all area towns were involved. Thank you again and God bless you all.
