A special thanks for forum coverage

To the editor:

It goes without saying that I am grateful that so many of our city’s electorate came out to our Mayoral Forum at The Firehouse last Thursday. I never dreamed we would have an overflow crowd and to those of you who did sit in the adjacent foyer and stand to hear if not view the event, your attendance made it all the more special for everyone there. We all knew the importance of the upcoming preliminary election and we all realized attendance was big. The intimate and crowded setting of our beautiful Firehouse Theater was fun and it was great to be a part of it. The lighting, sound were perfect.

That said, I want to admit to an egregious oversight. In my comments thanking the local media who were filming and recording the forum live, I forgot to recognize The Daily News and local reporter Dyke Hendrickson or his several stories leading up to our event. Editor John Macone and Dyke recognized the importance of our forum early on and contributed significantly to its success.

We are lucky to have our own Daily News, a radio station, WNBP-AM, and local access cable stations from PortMedia in our small city. Thanks, again Daily News. This is not gratuitous. They were great, despite the fact that they had wanted to organize this event themselves earlier.
