Rep. Mirra not involved in bridge naming

To the editor:

A letter appeared in these pages on June 28 regarding the naming of the Parker River Bridge in Newbury. In it the letter writer implied that I, “under the cloak of darkness,” was involved in naming the bridge after John Hayden, a West Newbury resident.

In order to set the record straight I would like to point out that the bill for this naming was filed in January of 2011, long before I was ever elected to office. I was not involved in this decision and did not vote on the matter.

Rep. Lenny Mirra

Second Essex District
