The congregation of People’s United Methodist Church of Newburyport would like to take this occasion to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in our community. We are always grateful for the opportunity to be of service to you and invite you to worship with us during the holiday season and throughout year.
In this season of giving thanks we want you to know how thankful we are for your support of our ministry. A few months ago we asked for your financial help so that we could continue to facilitate the Meals On Wheels program in the city. Your response has been nothing short of tremendous!
To date we have received a total of more than $13,000 in donations. These gifts have come from individuals, local banks, businesses, nonprofit organizations and other churches. In addition to this, we have been blessed to receive a grant from Pennies for Poverty, a local Newburyport nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing the effects of poverty through education, innovation and investing in our community. Through the grant we are now receiving $500 each month from Pennies for Poverty to help cover the cost of the Meals On Wheels program.
All of this generosity will allow us to continue the program at People’s for at least the next year. Our hope is to be able to keep this vital service to our elderly up and running until the new senior center is ready sometime in 2015. We now are more confident than ever that we can accomplish this with your continued help.
It is our sincere desire and prayer that your holiday is one of joy and strength as you reflect on all of the blessings that God has given to you and to this great community in which we each live. We truly have much to be thankful for this season.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
