Community service a total success

To the editor:

I recently had the opportunity to take part in a community service project as a requirement for one of my college courses. I worked with Our Neighbors’ Table here in Amesbury and tested my skills at organizing a successful fundraiser. The results were fantastic!

My goal was to center my fundraiser around Halloween. Halloween equals candy and candy equals cavities. So, I set my goal at collecting 100 tubes of toothpaste and/or toothbrushes.

I would like to thank all of the people who gave so generously to this worthy cause. Special thanks go out to the dental offices of Dr. Cheney and Dr. Ditolla for their amazing donations. Additionally, I would like to thank Dana MacLeod and the folks at The Lafayette Naturalization Club for their very generous cash donations. Words cannot express how much I appreciate all of their support.

Lastly, I’d like to thank Joan Bukoskey at Our Neighbors’ Table for allowing me the opportunity to work with this terrific organization. So many people stepped up to make this a huge success. I learned so much during this entire project, most importantly, how good it feels to volunteer.
