Amesbury a great place to live

To the editor:

In the last week in Amesbury I attended a fundraiser for Paige Fortin, a Christmas parade and tree lighting and an induction ceremony for Brad Ford into the Amesbury Educational Foundation Hall of Honor. This was just one week.

Amesbury is a vibrant, caring community. Our downtown is busy and with the revitalization of the lower Millyard on the horizon it will only get better. The artist community has been a great addition to the quality of life here. Our open spaces, rivers, ponds and trail systems are just beautiful.

I have found Amesbury to be a wonderful place to raise my family and as a local real estate agent I meet people on a daily basis that agree with me. Yes, our tax rate is high and there needs to be a concerted effort to bring that rate down. However the irony is that people often move here from other communities because it is more affordable. Similar homes in other communities are often priced much higher. So while our taxes certainly are an issue at the end of the day Amesbury offers a real value for the money spent. I know I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.
