To the editor:
During the last year, I took a break from participating in politics on both the local and national level. This doesn't
mean that I didn't vote; I just didn't jump on a podium to advocate publicly for candidates or issues.
However, in as few words as possible, I would like to express my profound respect and support for Alan Khazei in his bid to earn the Senate seat vacated by Ted Kennedy.
I watched the first televised debate, expecting to be impressed by the more familiar names. But Khazei surprised me with his directness, clarity and senatorial class. This past Tuesday night, I watched another debate and my opinions of Khazei were reinforced. He is a fresh voice, a calm and experienced national advocate for everyday citizens and an accomplished coalition builder.
While I respect the other candidates, I believe Khazei has the stature, imagination and homespun appeal to make him a superb senator.
I encourage all Democrats to vote on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at Amesbury Town Hall and to support Alan Khazei. Our state will be in great hands.
