The families of Bill and Jane Noon-Durgin wish to extend our sincere appreciation and gratitude to each and every person who has kindly offered condolences in some way after the passing of our loved ones on Oct. 18, in Candia, N.H.
Your generosity and support has been a comfort and a source of strength for us during this difficult time.

It's been about two years since Massachusetts started using civilian flaggers in place of police road details, and the issue still burns with controversy.
For years, Massachusetts had been the only state where flaggers were essentially banned from working at road construction sites. Oddly enough, there was no law in place that specifically banned flaggers. Instead, the practice had evolved from police union contracts that automatically allowed police to get the lucrative work that generally pays about $40 per hour.
I have seen some political advertisements endorsed by a certain New Hampshire newspaper that seem to equate being a so-called "liberal" with being a minion of that devilish fellow from the heated regions down below.

The Nichols, Ramsdell, Moss and Norkin families would like to express our truly deepest thanks to all those who have given their support to us at this, our darkest day. Your outpouring of love for Matt has begun to refill our empty hearts.

This letter is a response to the Aug. 27 editorial which, in the first paragraphs, states that the federal government is not going about resurrecting the economy in an effective way, i.e., news of plummeting home sales had the stock market reeling this week. The mess the economy is in was caused by these same people who are now wringing their hands and counting on the federal government to fix it but to do so without putting any effective restrictions on their policies. People are not buying homes, are also losing their homes, because they have no jobs and even if they do, there is that constant fear that they will be next to receive that dreaded pink slip.
Had President Obama begun his administration with the kind of infrastructure spending he is proposing now, there might not be the need for the kind of desperate move this latest "stimulus" program represents.
