---- — To the editor:
The Great Prevaricator has taken delight in emulating Neville Chamberlain. Your editorial of Dec. 2 was spot on. I am sympathetic to any peace process over conflict. but draw a firm line that avoids compromises to the safety of our nation. This is an issue that goes beyond politics and party. We are ill-advised to send our suitcase senator, newly minted secretary of state, with a “Negotiation for Dummies” well-thumbed, sticking out of his Gucci briefcase. Adding insult to injury the Junior President dances with the enemy who vows to obliterate our only Democratic ally in the Middle East, Israel! I must admit I have become a cynic. What is so appalling is the behavior of our so-called allies. It is so transparent — they have been chomping at the bit to start up all that juicy trade with the sanctions lifted!
Do we the citizens of the United States deserve better? Is this the predicted decline in the great United States? Will we finally elect a leader who is decisive, respected by our friends and brave enough to call out the Chinese, Russians and other so-called “partners” or our enemies who delight poking and teasing the management.
Glad I have been an Independent for all of 20-plus years, unaffiliated with any party. Time for a third party? Maybe!
