Thanks for supporting Slow Bike Race

To the editor:

The Coastal Trails Coalition would like to extend its gratitude to volunteers, riders and supporters of the Slow Bike Race on Wednesday, Aug. 1. In particular, we salute our sponsors Tannery Marketplace, Chase & Lunt Insurance and Provident Bank. Opportunity Works contributed services, Encompass Premiums and Apparel donated trophies, and all participants received Tannery Bucks donated by the Tannery Marketplace, a Coastal Trails guide and Share the Road decals provided by Turgeon & Associates.

The first place prize, won by “slowest of all” Noah Kologe, included donations from Riverside Cycle, Elements Therapeutic Massage, Yankee Runner, Michael’s Restaurant, ISIS and Haley’s Ice Cream. The grand prize awarded to the highest fundraiser, Manfred Raschke, contained gifts from Nunan’s Florist, Mill River Winery, David’s Restaurant, Chococoa Bakery and Jabberwocky Bookshop. The judge’s prize for best theme, won by Lisa Markowski, included gift certificates from Brown Sugar by the Sea Restaurant, Screening Room and Amesbury Skate & Sport.

The Coastal Trails Coalition is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization whose mission is to assist in the development, promotion and stewardship of the Coastal Trails Network, a public system of bicycle and pedestrian trails connecting Amesbury, Newbury, Newburyport and Salisbury and the adjacent communities.

Coastal Trail Coalition trails have been designated as sections of the East Coast Greenway that stretches from the U.S./Canadian border to Key West and the Border-to-Boston shared-use trail linking communities from the New Hampshire border to Boston’s North Shore. For additional information, visit coastaltrails.org or contact info@coastaltrails.org.

Thank you again to all of our generous supporters.
