Spring came in with Books in Bloom

To the editor:

The Newburyport Friends of the Library and the Horticultural Society wish to thank our sponsors, The Institution for Savings and ReMax on the River, for making possible our beautiful Books in Bloom event on the night of April 6. Thirty-five floral arrangements, based on the themes of books, decorated the first floor of the Newburyport Public Library and created the perfect introduction to spring. The Governor’s Academy musicians under the direction of Jeff Miller provided lovely background music while attendees milled about, sampling refreshments for both the body and the soul.

We would like to acknowledge all the members of the community, especially the many members of the Friends of the Library and the Horticultural Society, for helping us make this night a success. To those who provided food or donations to the raffle and silent auction, we salute you. Our advertisers also deserve our gratitude. A special thank-you goes out to Brian Hotchkiss, Peter Blaiwas, Jay McCarthy, Lisa Stewart, Jeff Miller and Judith Woods. Your time and efforts are very much appreciated.

A few hours with books, friends, and flowers goes a long way.
