Cheerleaders grateful for support

To the editor:

On behalf of the Newburyport Clipper D Team Cheerleaders, we would like to thank everyone who supported us in our fundraising efforts to bring the girls to the National Cheerleading Championship in Florida. Our small team of eight girls placed seventh in the nation at the UCA National Cheerleading Competition in Walt Disney World’s ESPN Arena.

The team included Kaitlyn Adams, Sophia Beninatto, Delaney Janvrin, Madison Medeiros, Summer Noonan, Brooke Osborne, Kate Sarra and Martina Ward. We only had two months to raise the necessary funds to make this dream a reality.

We would like to thank everyone who contributed at the Invitation Nights and the Present Wrapping nights. The auction was a big success thanks to many donations from local businesses and individuals. A special thank-you to Michael’s Harborside, Institution for Savings, Fairway Mortgage, Union Installation and Interstate Office Partitions for their generous contributions. Also, thank you to Central Congregational Church for providing us with space to practice.

Their hard work won them a spot at the competition, but it was only with the generous support of the community that the girls were able to participate. For that we are all deeply grateful. The girls will forever remember their experience at the competition. They were very proud to represent Newburyport, and we couldn’t be prouder of them.

Coaches Brenda Medeiros, Liz Little, Molly Hanson
