Thanks for making library fundraiser a success

To the editor:

On Jan. 22, The Friends of the Newbury Town Library hosted its first restaurant fundraiser and trivia night at Mission Oak Grill in Newburyport. We are happy to say that the event was extremely successful, but we could not have done it alone.

First and foremost, thank you to the Mission Oak Grill for hosting us and for so generously giving us 15 percent of the full-priced meals purchased that night. Thank you also to them for donating $225 worth of gift certificates to be handed out as prizes at our trivia night. Thank you to all of the staff who helped us out that night and thank you most of all to our point person, Kerri O’Neil, who was instrumental in getting the event going. Mission Oak Grill has shown outstanding community support and we applaud them for it.

Thank you also to David and Brittany Williams, teachers at Newbury Elementary School, who generously let us use their sound system for the trivia night. We so appreciate the loan of the equipment. Thank you also to our former secretary, Renee Toth, for securing the equipment for us. Thank you to North Andover teacher and Byfield resident, Paul Myette, for producing and emcee-ing the trivia night. Your energy and sense of humor definitely set the tone for the night.

Thank you to the staff of the Newbury Town Library who helped us publicize the event and who were there en masse to support it.

Thank you to everyone who came out and enjoyed meals and took part in the trivia night. We are grateful for your support and we hope you had as much fun as we did.

Finally, thank you to The Newburyport Daily News for helping to publicize the event. We are lucky to have such a fine paper in our community.

Jennifer Myette, Treasurer
