Newburyport Daily News
---- — To the editor:
We are writing to thank all those involved in our very successful fundraiser in honor of our 14th year store anniversary with MA Vest-A-Dog benefiting the Essex County K-9 units. We had a wonderful turnout on Sunday and the K-9 units and their handlers both entertained and informed the crowd about the critical roles that they play in law enforcement. Together, MA Vest-A-Dog and Pawsitively Best Friends raised over $1,500, which far exceeds the amount typically collected at other similar events.
We would like to thank the City Council and especially Councilor Cronin, who sponsored the petition to utilize the Inn Street space, Ann Ormond and the Chamber of Commerce. We would also like to thank Capt. Shane Ehlers and Sgt. Gary Mastrangelo and K-9 Chico, and Sgt. Steve Tsoukalas and K-9
Dozer as well as Sheriff Cousins and his office. Thank you to Dyke Hendrickson and The Daily News, Joey Walker and The Current and other media outlets for their coverage, local businesses that allowed us to promote the event in their establishments, area police, fire, libraries and community organizations that shared the information via social media.
In addition, we’d like to thank our generous vendors for their donations, Bruce Esposito and Susan Melvin and store staff (and friends and families!) for their hard work. We’d also like to thank Kathy Hinds, MA Vest-A-Dog president, and her volunteers for all of their dedication to this cause.
Most of all, we would like to thank our loyal customers who donated so generously in store prior to the event, participated in our raffle and donated online. We truly appreciate your business over the last 14 years. Thank you again for helping us support this wonderful cause and making the Essex County K-9 Unit safer for all of us.
