Thanks for food, cash contributions

To the editor:

The Amesbury Center of Community Action, Inc. would like to thank the many people who helped and contributed at the Santa Parade on Dec. 1. We received cash and food donations, all of which have been or will be directed toward aiding those in need.

In particular, we appreciate the participation of the Amery, Hallisey, Gile and Proctor families; and Girl Scouts Sue and Nora Cronin, Laura and Molly Buckley, Kayleigh and Delaney Hooper, and Lauren Legault, who marched in the parade. Their commitment to helping others is a true reminder of the Christmas spirit. (We apologize if we have omitted anyone.)

The Amesbury Center, located at 44 Friend St., provides support programs for residents of Amesbury, Merrimac, Newburyport, Newbury, West Newbury and Salisbury. These include a food pantry, a clothing bank, heating assistance and WIC (Women’s, Infants, and Children’s Nutrition Program) referrals, as well as programs offering assistance to people facing homelessness or utility shutoffs or are having difficulty meeting household expenses.

We also cooperate with many other local and area agencies in the effort to help as many people as possible. We are open Mondays through Thursdays. Thanks to all for making this Christmas a brighter one for so many!
