Amesbury made right call on 2-hour delay

To the editor:

In the wake of the fierce storm that was expected on Tuesday (that didn’t amount to anything) I want to commend the Amesbury school system for being proactive in their decision to call for a 2 hour delay. We were told the night before, so any arrangements could be made, no last minute running around.

I drive a school bus in Amesbury, and on the 16th of this month we drove in unsafe conditions in the morning. A 2 hour delay would have made all of us transporting children on that day in any town a lot safer. So for those of you who were complaining that it wasn’t necessary, maybe not, but we didn’t lose anything, we don’t have to make the day up, and all of the children arrived at school on time and safe. Better to be safe than sorry.

Thank you Amesbury Public Schools, for thinking of the children and their safety.
