HB 564 is about New Hampshire, not Florida

Newburyport Daily News

---- — To the editor:

Karen Keelan of Seabrook Park would like you to ignore the basic facts of House Bill 564. This bill has nothing to do with Florida, despite Ms. Keelan’s attempts at redirection. HB 564 will not eliminate a single job.

Ms. Keelan’s claims are simply scare tactics. In 2004, New Hampshire voters told the greyhound racing industry that the facts of greyhound racing could no longer be hidden.

HB 564 applies the same standard to the simulcasting signals New Hampshire tracks receive.

The tracks are free to negotiate with tracks across the country, they are free to continue accepting wagers on simulcast racing, and they are free to maintain their current business models.

GREY2K USA promotes the welfare of greyhounds by working to end commercial greyhound racing. Racing greyhounds are housed in small cages for up to 20 hours per day.

Greyhounds risk serious injury or death on the track. When they are no longer useful for racing, too many of the greyhounds are killed. For more information, please visit
