Letter: Sickness leads to horse's death

To the editor:

We are very sad to have had to euthanize Faith, the Lemonade Girl's buckskin horse on Nov. 1. As she was at her quarantine barn we had discovered that she had advanced ringbone, and something else going on with her hind end (EPM) as well. She was in pain, and there was nothing more that could be done. The girls loved and pampered her in the last weeks, and she was happy. But most of all she was spared the long trip to Canada or Mexico to be brutally slaughtered. Faith was one of nine slaughter-bound horses pulled from a kill pen. She and another were humanely euthanized. The seven others are doing fabulously, and all but two are in loving homes. The girls would like to thank everyone who supported the rescue effort. And they will continue to fundraise to help horses in need.Read this article in full with a
