More than 200 suitcases collected

To the editor:

Thousands of foster care children carry their belongings in a black garbage bag from place to place. Thanks to our generous donors and volunteers in Greater Amesbury/Newburyport, many children will now have a suitcase of their own.

We wish to thank everybody who donated a suitcase for the kids last week. We dropped off more than 200 suitcases at Pentucket Regional High School. The volunteers could not believe it when our truck pulled up! We extend a special thanks to all who participated in this event, especially the Amesbury Fire Department, the Amesbury Senior Center, the Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank, Provident Banks, Stone Ridge Realtors in Amesbury and Newburyport and Holy Family Parish in Amesbury.

Our hope and goal for next year is to do even better. On behalf of all the kids, thank you all.
