Newburyport Daily News
---- — To the Editor:
WNBP radio would like to thank all of the individuals and organizations that contributed to the overwhelming success of our recent “Cruisin the 50’s” classic car show and Doo-Wop concert in downtown Newburyport.
We would like to thank the Newburyport City Council for their approval to hold the event in downtown; Marshall Tom Howard for allowing us to re-route traffic so we could accommodate over 175 classic cars. Ann Ormond and the staff of the Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce for working with us to make this event a success for local businesses; Tony Furnari and the Newburyport Department of Public Services for helping with staging for the concert, cones for traffic control and keeping the city sparkling clean during our show.
Thanks to the Newburyport Lions Club who helped with street closures and traffic duties. We also want to thank Bruce Ledoux of Guardian Motor Sports for bringing the original #1 Batmobile to town and Mary Anne Clancy and the Institution for Savings for generously hosting the Batmobile in their parking lot, which allowed us the opportunity to raise several thousand dollars for the Boys and Girls Club of Lower Merrimack Valley.
Special thanks to Wes Pettengill for his months of work in selecting the cars that were on display through out the downtown area.
We also want to thank St. Jeans Credit Union for being our Presenting Sponsor again this year and all of the other sponsors without whom we would not have been able to present this event. They include Town Fair Tire, the Deck restaurant, Walls Ford, Valvoline Oil Co., Oxford Maine Casino, Watts Eye Associates, Newburyport. Com, the Home Brew Barn, New England Coffee, Georgetown Insurance and Nichols Village.
