Holaday a problem-solver; she has my vote

Newburyport Daily News

---- — To the editor:

I will be casting my vote for Mayor Holaday in the preliminary election on Sept. 17.

Under her leadership, we’ve seen glaring problems resolved and major initiatives under way that will improve the quality of life for all, one way or another. We’ve seen long overdue action to address the horrible condition of our middle and elementary schools, restore the Plum Island jetty, build a roundabout on Spofford Street and a senior center is on its way, finally!

The off-leash program for dogs would never have come to fruition if Mayor Holaday hadn’t organized a public forum soon after elected to her first term, allowing the opportunity for residents to discuss issues of mutual concern and form ad-hoc committees to strategize solutions.

While I may not agree with the mayor on every issue, such as development of the waterfront, her hard work for families and seniors has earned my vote. I believe that the NRA and zoning changes voted by the City Council are more likely to affect the outcome of our waterfront, not the mayoral election.
