Civilians, not Assad, will suffer in 'surgical strike'

Newburyport Daily News

---- — To the editor:

With the president drumming up bipartisan support for a limited military air strike on Syria, it is important now for us to consider the downside risk and email our federal delegations.

This has been described as a “surgical strike.” Well, I am a board-certified surgeon and this would be malpractice. It will have nothing in common with surgery.

The only sure result of these limited air strikes will be additional civilian non-combatant innocent victims, who are caught in the middle of a civil war.

Assad will not suffer for one second.

If we must punish Assad, then the only correct action would be the way we took out Osama bin Laden.
