Amesbury recycling/waste collection a success

Newburyport Daily News

---- — To the editor:

The Amesbury Department of Public Works held its first recycling/waste collection event. The turnout was great.

We want to thank everyone who brought in their textiles, shoes, mercury, polystyrene (Styrofoam), prescription and over-the-counter medications, one-use disposable plastic bags and their paper for shredding. This was all free of charge to our Amesbury residents!

We most importantly want thank the Amesbury Police Department, Baystate Textiles, ShoeBox Recycling, Universal Shredding, Wheelabrator Technologies, Stop & Shop of Amesbury and G. Mello Disposal Corp., who offered their services for free. These companies are committed to recycling and reuse and making the world greener. We sincerely appreciated all their support. Without them, the Public Works Department and the help of all the volunteers, their time and enthusiasm, this event would not have been possible or as successful as it was! Thank you.

We hope everyone will be back next year!
