A perfect day for church's golf tourney

To the editor:

The Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation sponsored its Annual Golf Tournament on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at Ould Newbury Golf Club in Byfield. The weather was perfect and 51 golfers enjoyed 18 holes of play, had a chance to win our $10,000 hole-in-one challenge, along with numerous raffles and other contests. The event was topped off with a Greek dinner featuring mountains of Greek hors d’oeuvres, chicken souvlakia, Greek-style green beans, rice, homemade breads, Greek salad, and a golf-themed dessert made for the guests by our own Father Constantine Newman. A live auction, a silent auction, and raffles topped off the evening portion of the event.

Proceeds from the golf tournament will be used to support the many ministries of Annunciation Church.

We wish to thank Jim Hilton, golf pro at Ould Newbury Golf Course, for all of his assistance with the many details of this event.
