To the editor:
On a perfectly crisp fall weekend at the end of September, thousands (yes, thousands!) of people gathered at Historic New England’s Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm in Newbury to hear great musicians, enjoy vintage base ball, delight in harvest-themed activities and eat and drink great local food and beer. The American Music & Harvest Festival surpassed our expectations, drawing over 3,200 people from our community together to raise over $39,000 for education foundations for the Newburyport, Pentucket, Triton, Ipswich, Masconomet school districts, River Valley Charter School and Immaculate Conception School, both in Newburyport, as well as Historic New England’s Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm. This amazing event was a wonderful example of what can be achieved when so many people work together.
First and foremost, the weekend could not have taken place without an extremely generous donation by Institution for Savings. It cannot be overstated that their support was instrumental in the festival’s success, and we are extraordinarily grateful for their ongoing dedication to the future of our children and their education.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to our other sponsors of the festival, including: Oregano Restaurant, Newburyport Development, Ipswich Brewery, Newburyport Brewing Company and Matter Communications. We would also like to thank the numerous musical acts who helped draw in huge crowds to enjoy their performances, as well as the food and beverage vendors and other merchants and activity providers who helped create the atmosphere of celebration of music, the fall season and the gorgeous farm that hosted the event. We are also sincerely appreciative of the many volunteers who donated their time and energy to the event, both in the months of preparation ahead of time, as well as during and after the event to make sure all the logistics went smoothly.
