To the editor:
Sean Reardon is the definition of a Newburyporter. He is a fifth-generation local, his grandfather was the chief of the Fire Department for 22 years and his father was a teacher and a coach for 32 years. He has served on the Parks Commission, served on the Senior Center Building Committee, was appointed to the Superintendent Search Committee in 2010 and is a volunteer youth soccer coach. Now he is preparing to continue to serve our community by running for Ward 5 city councilor.
Sean and I met many years ago playing basketball in a league at the IC. He’s an exceptional person. A smart, kind, dedicated family man who wants to see the city we all love continue to evolve. As a local business owner, I have met many Newburyporters who grew up with Sean. Every single person says the same thing: He’s a great person from a great family.
So where does he stand on the issues? He has worked in education for 13 years and is very focused on bringing 21st Century Learning into our school system. His professional experience will be huge in strengthening our schools. He believes we deserve a beautiful waterfront park with limited development and not dirt parking lots. He is in favor of a parking garage to manage traffic during the summer and allow for residential parking in the city’s neighborhoods. And he wants to continue our Historic Preservation to protect our storied history.
Sean is a perfect fit for Ward 5 city councilor. He has the passion and history for the city. He has the temperament and personality to balance the issues and compromise for the greater good. And he has the vision and experience to strengthen our schools, preserve our historic roots and continue to expand the beautiful waterfront.
I for one will be casting my vote for Sean Reardon on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
