To the editor:
I had lived at Lake Attitash for 85 years with my family. Last year my sister, Ernestine, had a stroke and is in a nursing home and I have moved into an assisted living home. My other sister and brother are married and live out of town, so our house had to be sold. Without my knowledge, my neighbors and friends got up a petition to have the corner of the street where we lived be called Goodwin’s Corner. It was presented to the Amesbury council at their meeting on Oct. 8 and was voted yes unanimously.
My father was always called “the Mayor of Lake Attitash.” The fire and police departments always called on him for help. The fire department kept fire extinguishers at our house and grappling irons for use for any drownings at the lake.
This was such an honor for our family. We want to thank our neighbors and the council for bestowing this honor on us.
