Just wait until the roundabout is finished

To the editor:

I read with some amusement the continual series of letters and articles commenting on the difficulties some drivers are having with the new roundabout on Merrimac Street. It seems that some people are having trouble finding their way through the maze of small islands with their attractive raised granite curbs. Obviously, these citizens failed to catch the Daily News article in which Mayor Holaday explained that the roundabout is not yet finished and will have another coat of asphalt eventually. This will make it much easier to navigate and should silence the complainers. Perhaps in the interest of public education, Mayor Holaday could then take the wheel behind a school bus, a snow plow or even an 18-wheeler and personally demonstrate how well-designed the roundabout is and how easy it is to navigate.
