A grateful park manager retires

Newburyport Daily News

---- — To the editor:

For the past 16 years I have had the pleasure of working with and for Newburyport’s Waterfront Park trustees, people dedicated and committed to the beauty and safety of Waterfront Park and the Matthews Boardwalk. I want to thank the trustees who allowed me to grow and expand the visions we all shared. I feel good retiring and leaving a beautiful and passive green space that should make Newburyport proud.

Soon I’ll be a visitor to the park and look forward to spending time enjoying. When I moved to Newburyport I was accepted to a group of approximately 20 people that met daily for a couple of hours on the boardwalk. Today we number four. Our bench plaque reads, “We took the time,” and I plan on continuing.
