Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society receives $14,900 grant
SALISBURY - The Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society has been awarded a $14,900 Leader of the Pack grant from PetSmart Charities. The money will be used for the nonprofit organization's Sunday feral cat spay/neuter clinics and expanding their low-cost spay/neuter program to Ipswich, Merrimac and Rowley.
PetSmart has become a leader in funding animal welfare agencies across North America, donating over $52 million to animal welfare programs and helping to save the lives of over 3.1 million pets through its support of 1,000 adoption centers inside PetSmart stores.
MRFRS is a nationally recognized, nonprofit volunteer organization committed to ensuring the health and welfare of feral and domestic cats and kittens by promoting pro-active, compassionate, no-kill programs. Workforce Training Fund Workshop at NECC Jan. 25

Garland A. Davis Jr. assumes leadership position at Boston Bar Association
BOSTON - Garland A. Davis Jr. of West Newbury has been named co-chair of the Hazardous & Solid Waste Environmental Committee of the Boston Bar Association's Environmental Law section. Robert Carpenter III joins Lahey Clinic Otolaryngology
BURLINGTON - Robert Carpenter III, MD, MS, of Rowley, has been appointed by Lahey Clinic to the Department of Otolaryngology. Dr. Carpenter is board-certified in otorhinolaryngology and will be available for patient care at Lahey Clinic Medical Center, North Shore, in Peabody.
Prior to joining Lahey Clinic, he practiced at the University of Connecticut Health Center, John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington, Conn. He was previously in private practice in the Department of Otolaryngology at Hartford Hospital and had been the clinical director of the division of Otolaryngology at Newington Children's Hospital.
Dr. Carpenter did his surgical training at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital in Hanover, N.H. and his otolaryngology training at the Mayo Clinic. He holds a master's degree in otorhinolaryngology (ear, nose and throat) from the University of Minnesota.
