Support group talks 'Bullying and Asperger's'
Robin Lurie-Meyerkopf, associate director of the Asperger's Association of New England, will speak on "Bullying and Asperger's Syndrome" on Monday when the Newburyport Asperger Syndrome Support Group meets at Anna Jaques Hospital, 25 Highland Ave., Newburyport.
The meeting goes from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Higgins Conference Room at the hospital. The support group addresses the concerns of parents of school-aged children diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome, high-functioning autism or related challenges.

'Alzheimer's Lessons Learned' at Merrimack Place
Fran Larkin of Newburyport will present "Alzheimer's Lessons Learned" at a meeting of the Alzheimer's Disease and Memory Loss Discussion Group on Monday at 6 p.m. at Atria Merrimack Place, 86 Storey Ave., Newburyport.
The group, which meets the second Monday of every month, is led by Gail Buccini, life guidance director, and Dr. Buck Woo, a neuropsychologist from Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport and Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill.

Provident Bank foundation supports hospice house
The Provident Bank's Community Foundation has awarded $15,000 to support the construction of a hospice house for the Merrimack Valley that is being built in Haverhill.
The foundation's donation to the $8.5 million hospice house campaign will help meet the needs of patients who cannot benefit from end-of-life care in their own homes.
The Provident Bank's Community Foundation has provided more than $3 million in grants to local community organizations since its inception in 1997.
Mass. General Cancer Center recognizing leaders
Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center is seeking nominations of donors, researchers, cancer volunteers, philanthropists, staff and activists who are leading the fight against cancer to honor at its second annual gala celebration.
The event, which is set for June, will recognize 100 individuals and groups who represent the many who are devoted to making an impact on cancer.
Nominees with a special connection to the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center are preferred, but no prior relationship is required. The entry deadline is Jan. 31. Nomination forms are available at www.massgeneral.org/theonehundred/nominate_now.html.
