It you tuned in to "Extreme Home Makeover" on Sunday, you saw a brief preview of the episode set to air this Sunday at 8 p.m., which will feature former Newburyport residents Renee and Paul Giunta and their three children.
Now living in Maynard, the Giuntas' Elm Court home has been made wheelchair-accessible for Paul.
In March 2006, Paul was in a car crash that occurred just hours after his wife gave birth to their third child, as Paul was taking his two oldest children to a toy store to buy a gift for the new baby. The children were unhurt, but Paul suffered a severe head injury. Hospitalized until recently, he now uses a wheelchair.
Maynard residents rallied throughout the fall and winter to get the Giuntas on the television show. Locally, Renee's former employer, Interlocks Salon and Day Spa, worked to raise money for the family. Renee was a hairstylist at the salon from 1993 to 2000.
