APPROVED

r Executive Session for 50 minutes at the start of the meeting to discuss collective bargaining issues.

r Tom Atwood of West Newbury as chairman, Maureen Moran of Merrimac as vice chairwoman, Joe D'Amore of Groveland as secretary, and Jill Albert of West Newbury as assistant treasurer and person responsible for approving the payroll for the upcoming year.

r The 2008-2009 School Committee calendar. The board agreed to forgo a plan adopted this year to meet at each school building at least once throughout the year. Meetings will be held at Sweetsir Elementary and the middle school because the board didn't get to those schools this year.

r A new harassment policy

r An out-of-state field trip request for the Bagnall Elementary School

r Acceptance with appreciation of a $23,006 donation by the West Newbury PTO for enhancements to the Page Elementary School program.

r Getting input from the high school principal on how to develop a plan for reviewing graduation requirements by June.

DISCUSSED

r Evaluations by the board for the superintendent have been submitted to the chairman

r A recap by the superintendent on the accomplishments of the current school year and the goals and responsibilities for the 2008-2009 school year.

r An increase in the co-pay for employee health insurance from $5 to $10. The business manager had wanted the co-pay to increase to $15 this year. The lower amount creates a $60,000 shortfall.

r Staffing and class sizes at the high school next year.

RECOGNIZED

r Newly elected Board members Jack Willet of Groveland and Jill McGrail of Merrimac. Chairwoman Kathy Kastrinelis thanked former members Val Corradino and Doreen Blades. The committee celebrated the new membership and the passage of the FY09 budget in all three district towns with cake and coffee during the meeting.

r A discussion on appointments to the Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School Committee until May 20. Representatives to the committee are needed from Groveland and Merrimac. Anyone seeking a seat on that committee should submit a letter of interest to the Central Office.
