SEABROOK — Selectmen recently changed the time for the public hearing on proposed ATV regulations to accommodate those who want to comment on the new rules.

The meeting will be Wednesday, May 21, at 7 p.m. in the Selectmen's Room on the second floor of Town Hall.

The new regulations were drawn up after ATV riders damaged the land surrounding Seabrook's drinking water wells. Given the strict state laws about protecting the area, selectmen are cracking down.

If approved, the new rules will create a no-ride zone of 400 feet surrounding each wellhead, and set fines for violations.

Police Chief Patrick Manthorn said recently that town officers will respond to calls concerning off-road vehicles on town property.

For more information or a copy of the proposed regulations, call Town Hall at 603-474-3252.
