r Nominate former Planning Board Chairman Rick Pinciaro as alternate to the Planning Board.

r Send a letter to the Massachusetts Highway Department indicating that the town wants to go forward with the 25 percent design phase for the town center renovations and be on the Transportation Improvement Program for 2010.

r Change the accident policy for the Police and Fire departments for fiscal year 2009 (beginning July 1, 2008) which is expected to save the town more than $4,000 annually.

r Sign American Tower's request to allow Verizon to obtain a building permit to extend a fence at the West Main Street site.

r Sign Household Hazardous Waste Reciprocity Agreement (allowing Merrimac and other towns to share Household Hazardous Waste Days on a limited basis).

r Waive the permit fees to install a ventilation system at the Police and Highway barn.

r Declare the Council on Aging copier as surplus.

r Executive session for "confidential litigation."

r Schedule a meeting with Merrimac Citizens for a Strong Community, at their request.

r Continue to sell yard waste stickers to offset the cost of the yard waste operator.

r Sign a Disclosure of Financial Interest by Special Municipal Employee for Selectman Linda Seymour because she is also a full-time town employee (dispatcher for the Police Department). A vote will be held when Selectman Earl Baumgardner is present.

r Selectman Carol Traynor will sit as a voting member for the Zoning Board of Appeals on May 14.

r Welcomed newly elected Linda Seymour to her first meeting.

r Thanked Herbert Gynan and Dorothy Cloyd for their dedicated service to the Council on Aging, from which they resigned.

r An amendment to the building permit for the over-55 Merrimac Commons on East Main Street modifies some units from townhouse to one-level.

r The Sewer Department increased sewer rates effective July 1, 2008.

r The finance directors of Merrimac, Groveland and West Newbury will review the current Elementary School Lease Agreements and draft one that is consistent.

r Selectmen will schedule a meeting with the Department of Environmental Protection to request more information about the order to keep traffic from the wellhead at Indian Head Park.

r Light and Water Department Manager Dan Folding will discuss the policy of shoveling out fire hydrants in order to work out an arrangement before next winter.

r Selectmen met with engineers regarding River Road and Cobbler's Brook repairs for flood damage and are waiting for recommendations from MassHighway and the Federal Highway Administration\.

r After 18 years as Merrimac's representative to the Pentucket Regional School Committee, Paul Tucker was not re-appointed by the Regional School Committee.

r A trailer to carry the trench shoring system has been ordered; the trench shoring system prevents cave-ins and is required by law and recommended by the town's insurance carrier.

r The town is subsidizing $7,500 of the cost of Household Hazardous Waste Day on June 21.

r In an effort to get programming for community TV channel 18, selectmen will discuss whether there are interested residents.

r Selectmen have been invited to the Memorial Breakfast at the Council on Aging on May 23.

r Val and Michael Corradino of Lake Avenue wrote to the Highway Department to thank it for plowing this winter.

Need More Information

r In response to a request from Sons of the Wind Horse Farm for a one-day liquor license to sell wine at the Portuguese Festival on May 25, selectmen want to know their plans, including whether there will be a certified server, and will they have an insurance rider.

r Before declaring the Fire Department's ambulance as surplus, selectmen will ask the Parks and Recreation Department if they still want the vehicle to store and move equipment.
