Police Log

NEWBURYPORT

The following items were recorded in the log of the Newburyport police:

Officer Christopher McDonald responded to a report of vandalism at Oak Hill Cemetery on State Street on Friday at 5:10 p.m. McDonald found that five gravestones had been overturned, but those responsible had fled the scene prior to his arrival. Police have stepped up drive-by inspections in the area in response to the vandalism.

Frank J. Palazzo Jr., 61, 122 Folly Mill Road, Seabrook, was arrested at 5:25 p.m. Friday on a warrant on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and malicious destruction of property over $250. Officer Michael Wilichoski made the arrest at Woodman Way.

Gilbert J. Longtin, 27, 114 Friend St., Amesbury, was arrested during a motor vehicle stop and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and motor vehicle lights violation. Officers William Steeves and Charles Vorderis and Sgt. Thomas Cappelluzzo made the arrest at the corner of High and Pond streets.

Gail Greenberg, 54, 80 Randolph Ave., Brockton, was issued a summons at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and charged with shoplifting by concealing merchandise. Officer Joshua Tierney issued the summons at the Brass Lyon in Market Square.

Andrew James Low, 26, 318 North St., Georgetown, was arrested at 5:02 p.m. Saturday and charged with disorderly conduct, trespassing, wanton destruction of property valued under $250, and resisting arrest. Officers Chad Larson, Edward Rice and McDonald, and Sgt. Alan Maguire made the arrest on State Street.

Noudeng Khampannha, 75, 164 Pine St., Lowell, was arrested at 6:45 p.m. Saturday on an outstanding warrant. Officer Michael McGinnis made the arrest on Spring Lane.

Monica Zakarian, 42, 283 Sparhawk St., Amesbury, was arrested at 6:45 p.m. Saturday and charged with disorderly conduct and assault on medical personnel. Officer McDonald and Sgt. Maguire made the arrest at Anna Jaques Hospital on Highland Avenue.

Maryrose M. Courage, 48, 400 Merrimac St., Newburyport, was arrested at 1:23 a.m. Sunday and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol (third offense), leaving the scene of an accident and failure to stop for police. Officers Steeves and Vorderis, along with Sgt. Maguire, made the arrest on Merrimac Street.

AMESBURY

The following items were recorded in the log of the Amesbury police:

Jeremy Lyons, 26, 60 Amesbury Road, Newton, N.H., was arrested Friday at 6:34 p.m. and charged with driving whil under the influence of alcohol and driving to endanger. Officers Steven Reed and Kevin Mulrenin made the arrest on Macy Street.

Kenneth J. Brown, 48, 62 Whitehall Road, Amesbury was arrested at 10:08 p.m. Friday on an outstanding warrant. Officers Matthew Cunningham, Mulrenin and Reed made the arrest at Whitehall Road.

Jason O. Coberly, 30, 17 Lindenshire Ave., Exeter, N.H., was arrested at 3:17 p.m. Sunday and charged with domestic assault and battery. Officers Glenn Chaput, David Clark, Craig Bailey and Sgt. Albert Chatigny made the arrest on Naysons Court.

Michael Barker, 18, Atlantic Avenue, Amesbury, was arrested Sunday at 9:25 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct. Officer David Noyes made the arrest at Richdale's.

STATE POLICE

The following items were recorded in the log of the state police, Newbury barracks:

David Cormier, 56, 24 Russ St., Methuen, was arrested Sunday and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and a marked lanes violation. Trooper Pierce made the arrest in Amesbury.

Kevin Mutrur, 18, Bodwell Avenue, Lowell, was arrested Saturday and charged with violating the open container law, driving while under the influence of alcohol and speeding. The arrest was made by Trooper McGarry in Merrimac.

Robert W. Gray, 41, 2065 Ocean Blvd., Rye, N.H., was arrested Friday and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol. Trooper McGarry made the arrest in Salisbury.

NEWBURY

The following items were recorded in the log of the Newbury police:

Francis Stephen Hood, 41, 125 Spruce St., Milford, was arrested Friday at 10:58 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol (fifth offense), unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, speeding and giving a false name and Social Security number. Officer Mark Smigielski made the arrest on the Newburyport Turnpike.

Jonathan Brennan, 22, 22 Central St., Ipswich, was arrested at 11:56 p.m. Friday and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, using a false name and Social Security number, and for assault and battery on a police officer. Officer Gregg Frappier made the arrest on the Newburyport Turnpike.

SALISBURY

The following items were recorded in the log of the Salisbury police:

Miguel Pena, 30, 19 Bailey St., Lawrence, was issued a summons Saturday at 3:58 p.m. for operating a vehicle with a suspended license and running a red light. Officer Daniel McNeil issued the summons at 24 Railroad Ave.

Zeynep Ahmad, 34, 19 Birtha Circle, Billerica, was issued a summons on Saturday at 10:03 p.m. for assault and battery. Officer Craig Lesage issued the summons on Bridge Road.

Benigno Ramos, 26, 31 Roberts Road, Cambridge, was issued a summons on Sunday at 3:37 p.m. for driving with a suspended driver's license, a seat belt violation and for operating a vehicle without an inspection sticker. Officer James Leavitt issued the summons on Beach Road.

MERRIMAC

The following item was recorded in the log of the Merrimac police:

Robert J. Mendoza, 41, 238 Franklin St., Haverhill, was arrested Saturday at 1:26 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol (third offense). Officers Charles Sharker and David Vance made the arrest on Broad Street.

WEST NEWBURY

The following item was recorded in the log of the West Newbury police:

Brian Ruby, 50, 58 15th Ave., Haverhill, was arrested Saturday at 1 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, operating a motor vehicle after his license was revoked and a marked lanes violation. Officer Danielle Connolly made the arrest on Main Street.
