The Amesbury Department of Public Works and Water Billing offices have spent the past week moving to their new home on the second floor of the Ordway Building at 9 School St. The move is underway and will be complete by July 13. Customers looking to reach the Department of Public Works to receive information regarding compost stickers, street openings, water and sewer permits or other Public Works-related matters may go to the Ordway Building.

The purpose of the move is to allow for a greater level of administrative coverage through a consolidation of office space, according to Mayor Thatcher Kezer's office. It's being orchestrated to address what Kezer regards as significant space constraints limiting administrative and management functions.

With the move, office hours will shift to Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., but the phone numbers for the department will remain the same. Customers may reach Public Works at 978-388-8116 and Water Billing directly at 978-388-8119.

Volunteers for the Amesbury Holiday Program' a 20-year-old, non-profit organization that provides impoverished children under 18 years of age with toys and clothing each Christmas, will be hosting a fundraising bazaar Saturday, July 11 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 238 Elm St. The yard sale/bake sale/plant sale/raffle is being held this year at the home of volunteer Claudette Novak and is just one way the organization raises funds for the local cause.
