AMESBURY — After speaking before a crowd of 300 or so in the Upper Millyard amphitheater, Gov. Deval Patrick stayed in town Wednesday night to get some dinner.
Joined by his staff members; town officials; state Sen. Steven Baddour, D-Methuen; Rep. Michael Costello, D-Newburyport; and Municipal Council President Roger Benson, Patrick went to Flatbread Pizza Co.
Shane Pine, the manager of Flatbread, said two members of Patrick's staff came in to inquire if the restaurant would be willing to accommodate his crowd of about 30.
"He was great," Pine said.
The group ordered salads, pizza and dessert — brownies. The governor enjoyed the homemade sausage pizza, Pine said.
Patrick offered his thanks to Flatbread staff for allowing the group to come in and posed for a picture with Pine.
The restaurant is just across from the outdoor venue where he answered questions for about an hour as part of his statewide summer "town hall" tour. Patrick is visiting 11 different communities to hold sessions, where he answers questions and concerns raised by the audience.
