Dancers earn awards at competition

AMESBURY — Rap N Tap School of Dance competed last month in the nationals dance competition, Turn It Up Dance Challenge, held in Bartlett, N.H., where they received many top awards. Owner Carolyn Hanley-Tapley and Director Shantell Sabino are proud of all the dancers who did so well in their first national competition.

Dancers are Ashley Crocker, Samantha Desmond, Annie Fish, Deanna Havey, Maiya Lawrence, Jacqueline L'Heureux, Brittany McCarthy, Emily O'Hala, Nadia Sabino, Holly Sheehan, Julie Sheehan, Kensie Sheehan, Ashley Shepard, Jessica Tapley, Kadee Tapley, Brittany Warner, Olivia Wilmot, Madison Wilson and Karyssa Youngs.

Awards include one gold, eight high golds and seven platinum. High score Duo/Trio Mini Division: "This is my Now" featuring Annie Fish. High Score Duo/Trio Senior Teen Division and Overall High Score: "Precious Things" featuring Annie Fish and Kadee Tapley. High Score Small Group Teen Division and Overall High Score: "Lost in Space" featuring Junior and Senior company dancers. High Score Small Group Tap Junior Division: "Rockin' Robin" featuring Petite company dancers. High Score small Group Senior Division and Overall High Score: "Thriller" featuring Junior and Senior company dancers. Over all High Score Out of all Routines: "Thriller"

Rap N Tap also received special awards: Power Pack Performance Award for "Thriller"; Best Choreography Award for "You Raise me Up" choreographed by Shantell Sabino.
