August 28, 2008 03:57 am The city's first hybrid for its vehicle fleet will be arriving shortly. Earlier this month, the City Council and mayor agreed to replace the parking enforcement officer's aging car with a hybrid. The council authorized spending up to $24,500. City Clerk Richard Jones, who also acts as the parking clerk, said the city is getting a four-door Honda Civic from Commonwealth Motors in Lawrence. It is a 2008. Honda says its Hybrid Civic gets up to 45 miles to the gallon on the highway. Its suggested starting price is $23,550. The parking officer's car travels throughout the city and is used as a messenger car for the city during elections and other such events.
