APPROVED

Creating a task force to investigate a phased elimination of fees for participation in sports, extracurricular activities and bus transportation at the request of Kathy Kastrinelis of Groveland. The committee has asked the superintendent to look into establishing a family cap on fees and a rate reduction for students who participate in multiple activities for this school year. The task force will include a member of the community. Anyone interested in serving should contact the superintendent's office.

DISCUSSED

Superintendent Paul Livingston provided the committee with an overview of how the opening days of school have gone. He also noted that Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System results were positive, with all schools achieving Adequate Yearly Progress. However, there are still some literary issues among the special education cohorts.

Procedures the district has in place for evaluating homeschooling requests.

A concern raised by Joe D'Amore of Groveland that adequate after-school programming was in place to accommodate the new early release Wednesdays. The superintendent said there was and that a statement would soon be released to parents about what is being offered by the district.

New improvements to the district Web site. The district is looking for a tech-savvy volunteer to continue with the updates. Anyone interested should contact the superintendent's office.

Compliments by the committee for the aesthetic improvements made to the high school over the summer. The superintendent said having a districtwide facility manager in place has been a very positive addition.
