Groups to make presentation on projects in Africa
NEWBURYPORT — Local organizations will share information tonight on their ongoing projects and partnerships with sister cities in Africa during a presentation at the Custom House Maritime Museum.
Four local groups, including Amesbury for Africa and the Newburyport/Bura Alliance, will be on hand to discuss their various projects and to give presentations on their organizations.
Interested citizens can sign up to join a project, volunteer or to visit an African sister city.
Some of the current initiatives that groups are working on include fundraising for school uniforms, a medical supply drive and an exchange program.
The Shalupe and Onde Group will offer visitors a chance to use the new laptop designed specifically for children in developing worlds, which they are bringing to Africa.
Members of the local teams and Africans will be there to talk about their experiences.
The session will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. It is open to the public.
"They're all different," Mark Guay said. "There's something for everybody."
The groups are looking for people ready to utter "the four magic words," Guay said. "How can I help?"
