September 22, 2008 11:07 pm The First Essex-Middlesex Coalition elected new officers during its recent meeting. The new officers are Marianne Rutter of Boxford, chairwoman; LuAnn Kuder of Newbury, vice chairwoman; Kathy Pasquina of West Newbury, (re-elected) treasurer; and Matt Patton of North Reading, secretary and membership chairman. Also elected were Patricia Skibbee of West Newbury, to serve as Web site coordinator, and Nancy Weinberg of Newbury, for the position of media liaison. All of the new officers are members of the Democratic Town Committees of their respective communities. The group expressed its praise and gratitude for outgoing officers, Elizabeth Kilcoyne of Ipswich, founding chairwoman; and Patrick Abegg of Gloucester, vice chairman, for their outstanding work and commitment. The coalition is a collaborative of representatives from Democratic town and city committees in the 17 communities that form the First Essex and Middlesex district in the state Senate, as defined by the 2001 redistricting legislation. The coalition shares best practices among the town committees in order to increase interest and membership in party activities, helps elect Democrats to public office, and strengthens the Democratic Party's presence in the district. The district includes the following towns: Boxford, Essex, Georgetown, Gloucester, Groveland, Hamilton, Ipswich, Manchester-by-the-Sea, Middleton, Newbury, North Andover, North Reading, Rockport, Rowley, Wenham, West Newbury and Wilmington
